Our enrichment sites are strategically situated at the core of vital ecosystem services reliant on biodiversity. In Paimio, our initiatives create an ideal habitat (meadows and fallows) for bees, flies, and insects. Pollinators play a critical role in food production as an ecosystem service.
Current concervation area
Our present pollinator project in Paimio spans 3 hectares, with the land having been removed from intense production for three years. Our ecologist meticulously selects the flora and other species for this ecosystem. These areas are interconnected at the landscape level, ensuring the flow of pollinators between sites. Following the enrichment period, the soil will be optimized for agricultural production, rich in nutrients, with improved particle size and water management.
Increase in the local biodiversity
Based on the scientific research: Our model provides significant improvement for the local biodiversity especially for crucial pollinators. Amount of Bees and Flies coul increase in the local area up to 25% compared to normal grasslands.
